Dancehall artist Gully Bop, whose real name is Robert Lee Malcolm, passed away at the age of 59. He had been hospitalized at Kingston Public Hospital for a while.


Gully Bop gained fame in 2014 when his impromptu performances went viral on social media. He released hit songs like "Wuk Affa Mi" and "My God, Dem Nuh Bad Like Me."


Despite previous attempts at a music career under the stage name 'Country Man' in the early 1990s, he didn't achieve much success.


He had legal troubles, including domestic abuse and robbery charges in the United States and an assault charge in 2018.


Gully Bop also faced health issues, including a hernia that led to hospitalization in 2021. He reached out for help through social media personality Aunty Donna's TikTok video.


Gully Bop's death marks the end of a unique dancehall career filled with ups and downs.
